This week wasn’t suuuuuper exciting, but she still had some exciting and cute moments.
Before we get into it, I just wanted to say hi to my new subscribers. Idk where you all came from out of nowhere, but thank you for making me feel a little less hopeless. Love u, mean it.
This week the 2021 CFDA Award nominees were announced!
There have definitely been times when the nominees were questionable, but there is some amazing designers up for the awards this year. Women’s Wear Designer of the Year alone has KHAITE, Christopher John Rogers, Gabriela Hearst, Marc Jacobs, and Peter Do up for grabs. Theophilio, ERL, Maisie Wilen are exciting to see in American Emerging Designer of the Year as well!
ALSO, Dapper Dan will receive the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award! Exciting! Dan’s rise to fame began in the 1980s with his “knock-ups” of luxury pieces by some of the biggest fashion brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton. In 2017 he also launched a fashion line with Gucci highlighting his signature designs. He’s the first Black designer to receive this award.
The awards will be taking place on November 10th.
Streetwear legend Nigo to become the new artistic director of Kenzo. He’s the co-founder of Bape and the first Japanese designer to helm the brand since its founder. This is such an amazing choice, and I can’t wait to see what’s to come.
Billie Eilish is collabing with Nike to create a pair of “Ghost Green” Air Jordan 1 KOs. Her little signature logo will be on the tongue and on the bottom of the shoe. I’ve also heard that they will be made with vegan leather!
I would loooove to know your thoughts on vegan leather. While I’m sure there are more sustainable ways to make vegan leather, often times it’s awful for the planet. Vegan leather is essentially just plastic, at least usually. As a fellow vegan, I’m kind of in the middle about it. I have no problem buying leather second hand, but I still feel strange purchasing it brand new, idk. Don’t come for me.
-Anya Taylor-Joy for Vogue Mexico; I can’t find who styled this shoot, but it’s not my favorite. The styling is a bit boring/strange to me.
Gabrielle Union wore a GORG Isaac Mizrahi archive look to “kickoff” #MetMonday only to wear something completely off theme to the gala heehee.
Bretman Rock living his best life in Robert Wun.
Gagged for Paloma Elsesser in Hood By Air.
Selkie made a dreamy NYFW debut.
This RIMOWA campaign is sending me for some reason.
Dula Peep in custom LaQuan Smith; I think it’s amazing when custom work makes sense with the latest collection.
Adele looking INSANE in custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture.
Kim Petras in one of my fave looks from the latest Saint Sintra collection.
So that was this week. She’s pretty short and sweet, and honestly, I needed that. After my regular weekly review, VMA’s, Met Gala, and NYFW all at once, I feel my brain particles sparking.
